CasperTalk is made by Signal Labs Technologies, and it is built so that there is almost nothing to write here. The short version: your scripts, decks, videos and voice stay on your device; this website sets no cookies and counts visits without storing anything in your browser; a Pro purchase on the Mac or PC is handled by Stripe and leaves us with your email, a license key, and a one-way hash of the computer you activate it on. On iPhone and iPad, purchases go through Apple and we receive nothing about you at all.

The Mac and Windows app

Scripts and imported decks are files in ~/Library/Application Support/CasperTalk on your Mac. They are never uploaded.
Microphone audio (when Voice-Follow is on) is analysed in memory to detect whether you are speaking. It is not recorded, transcribed, stored or sent anywhere.
Slide Tracking asks Keynote or PowerPoint for the current slide number (and, when you import an open presentation, its speaker notes) through macOS automation, locally.
Usage metering for the free plan (the free minutes used this month) is a local file, with copies in the app's preferences and your Keychain (on Windows: the registry and Windows Credential Manager), so deleting or reinstalling the app doesn't reset it. It is not reported to us.
Update checks. Once a day the app asks caspertalk.com whether a newer version exists. The request carries the app's version number and nothing else about you or your Mac. We count these requests, using the same daily-salted hash as the download counter below, to know roughly how many Macs run CasperTalk; no identifier is stored. You can turn the daily check off in Settings → Updates and check by hand instead.
Logs stay local. The app keeps a small log file on your Mac (Help → Reveal Log Files) so that a problem can be diagnosed if you choose to send it to us. It is never sent automatically.
The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs. Its only network requests are the update check above and the license activation described below.

The iPhone and iPad app

The App Store privacy label for CasperTalk on iPhone and iPad is Data Not Collected. There is no account, and the app sends nothing to us.

Scripts are stored inside the app on your device. They are never uploaded.
Camera and microphone are used only while a recording or listening screen is open. Takes you record are saved to your Photos library with add-only access: the app can add videos but never reads your library. A small thumbnail of each take stays inside the app for its Takes list.
Voice-follow analyses microphone audio in memory to detect whether you are speaking. It is not recorded, transcribed, stored or sent anywhere.
Word tracking uses Apple's on-device speech recognition to find your place in the script. The audio and the recognised words stay on your device; the first time, Apple may download the language model for your language.
Float shows your script in a floating window over other apps. CasperTalk cannot see or record what those apps show or capture.
Free-plan counters (the free minutes used this month) are kept on your device, in your Keychain, and in your iCloud key-value storage, so a reinstall or a new iPhone doesn't reset them. That iCloud storage belongs to your Apple account; we have no access to it.
Purchases of CasperTalk Pro are made through Apple. We never see your payment details, your name, your email or your Apple Account; the app is only told whether Pro is active.
Logs stay local. The app keeps a small log on your device so that a problem can be diagnosed if you choose to send it (Settings → Share the app log). It is never sent automatically.
The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, tracking or advertising SDKs, and makes no network requests to us. Its only connections are Apple's own services: the App Store for purchases, iCloud for the counters, and the speech model download.

Buying and activating Pro on the Mac or PC

Payment is processed by Stripe, once or as a monthly or yearly subscription. We do not see or store card details. Stripe gives us your email address and the purchase or subscription record; you can change or cancel a subscription through Stripe's customer portal.
Your license key is derived from the purchase and shown on the key page; if email delivery is configured, a copy is sent to the address you paid with (via Resend).
Activating Pro sends the key and a device hash to caspertalk.com. The hash is a SHA-256 digest computed from your computer's hardware identifier; it cannot be turned back into a serial number or used to identify you, and the identifier itself never leaves your computer. We store the hash next to the key so the same computer can re-activate after a reinstall. One key unlocks one computer.
Pro for life is activated once. A subscription is checked again around each renewal: the app sends the same key and device hash, and we ask Stripe whether the subscription is still paid for. Nothing else is sent.

This website

No cookies. Nothing is written to your browser — no cookies, no local storage, no fingerprinting scripts.
Cookieless analytics. We use PostHog in its cookieless mode to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and whether they click the download or buy buttons. Visitors are counted with a hash computed on PostHog's servers from your IP address and browser; the hash changes daily and cannot be reversed or linked to you across days. There is no session recording, no automatic click capture, and no identification. Page URLs are sent without query strings, so the key page's URL is never transmitted. We honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: with either enabled, nothing is sent at all.
No advertising pixels, no third-party fonts. Analytics requests go to caspertalk.com and are relayed to PostHog from there.
Download counts. Clicking a download button passes through caspertalk.com/download, which adds one to a counter and records a daily-salted hash of your IP address and browser so we can tell repeat downloads from new ones on the same day. The hash cannot be reversed, is meaningless the next day, and only the count derived from it is kept.
Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for a short period for security and operations.

Your rights and contact

To have your email or purchase records deleted, or to ask anything at all, write to emre@caspertalk.com. We reply personally. For the iPhone and iPad app there is nothing to delete on our side: removing the app deletes your scripts, and your Photos and iCloud data are yours to manage in iOS Settings.
